DoiTung recently launched its autumn/winter 2023 collection featuring ready-to-wear clothing, bags and cushion covers predominantly in blue, white and black tones.
Handwoven clothes are rare, especially among younger Thais. DoiTung has set out to conquer this challenge and reshape the perception of Thai handwoven fabric.
The Everyday collection is its latest endeavour to solidify commitment to changing consumer perspectives on Thai handwoven fabrics.
Derived from traditional weaving skills passed down through generations, handwoven fabrics represent ancient wisdom and the local way of life, which DoiTung has helped preserve. However, to evolve the brand, DoiTung is collaborating with a new generation of designers and using modern technology to enhance production techniques and develop contemporary handwoven fabrics while preserving traditional, handmade essence.
The DoiTung brand features two product lines -- the long-established Classic line for aficionados of Thai handwoven fabrics and the Everyday line, which has recently gained popularity among individualistic youth seeking everyday attire with designs that are not mundane, as well as people who value craftsmanship more than fast fashion.

This collection, under the theme "The Extraordinary Ordinary", offers ready-to-wear clothing, bags, and cushion covers. Each piece incorporates captivating details such as colourful lines and hilltribe fabric patterns. The base colour is complemented by vibrant lines and incorporates patterns from local fabric to enhance its aesthetic. Items in the collection also feature precise cuts, which offer a polished appearance and are comfortable to wear for various occasions. Each piece is meticulously sewn from handwoven fabric and crafted from natural fibres and recycled plastic. This approach ensures that the distinct characteristics of the DoiTung brand, rooted in the traditional art of weaving using a loom, is maintained.
Noteworthy items in the collections include a blue handwoven crop top with a hood that can be worn to liven up office attire, shorts with ruffles and tie-dye accents, ties that provide a sporty yet chic look, comfortable Hmong pants made from stretchy fabric with unique trims that match well with a pair of boots, and outerwear featuring dark fibres which contrast traditional fabric patterns. The collection also highlights an intercultural collaboration with the Philippines' social enterprise, R2R, for five stunning multiway bags with adjustable functions through detachable straps, built-in wallets and compartments to fit everything essential. The bags also feature traditional weaving patterns that are modern, unique, and represent conscious fashion.
