A collection of paintings and historical images are being showcased at "The Divine Truth" at Tang Contemporary Art, until Feb 24.

The exhibition brings recent works of Zou Jianping, an artist who has been a pivotal force in the development of modern and contemporary art in China.

The 65-year-old artist started his journey from the ancient city of Changsha in central China where he resides, passing through the Maiji Mountain towards the distant horizon of Kashmir five years ago.

Then, he came up with the Desert Series that explores the Western frontiers, using the poetic form of mud and sand to symbolise the soul of the Western region, the dust of history, a reshaping of Eastern vitality, and the burial ground of civilisation.

Viewers will witness his scale and depth of experience in the desert and trace his journey through the vast wilderness. In his works, he also pays poignant homage to family, particularly his elderly mother, wife, and children, while reflecting on the significance of seeds and rice.

Also displayed is the Great Bird Series that unfolds the imagery of birds and questions the ultimate dedication of the artist's spirit.

However, viewers can sense his compassionate and romantic delicacy through the Grand Vase Series, which employs diverse materials to reflect his sustained quest for new romantic expressions.

Tang Contemporary Art is located at Room 201-206 of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24 and opens Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 7pm.
