Embark on a mesmerising journey of Thai cultural heritage in "Miscellany Of Khon", a programme that breathes new life into khon, a traditional masked dance drama that traces its roots back to the Ayutthaya kingdom. Hosted by the 18 Monkeys Dance Theatre in collaboration with the Unfolding Kafka Festival, this blend of film screening and live dance performance will transport audiences to an unexpected realm of khon as envisioned by a new generation steeped in contemporary arts while maintaining the cherished traditions of the past. The enchanting spectacle unfolds at Slowcombo, Pathum Wan, from Feb 29 until March 1.

Kicking off the programme is a screening of Miscellany Of Khon, a documentary series curated by Thanphuying Sirikitiya Jensen and directed by Jitti Chompee. Comprising six episodes -- Thread, The Last Chui Chai, Femininity In Male Performers, Narration, Untold Stories and Baak -- the film sets the stage for a deeper understanding of khon's cultural significance. The programme culminates in a spellbinding live performance or "The Miscellany Of Khon Performance" featuring dance and music. The performance will be elevated by demonstrations by the Piphat Mai Khaeng ensemble and accomplished principal dancers from the esteemed National Theatre.
