Seasonal change in home decor

Spring has sprung, well in Thailand, its summer all year round, but a change in seasons is a good thing. It gives new meaning to “spring cleaning” and a chance to beautify your home with a fresh look.

Lotus Arts de Vivre

Lotus Arts de Vivre (LAdV) is known for its Thai and Asian master-artisan creations. Their latest collection under the “Unleash Your Dragon” umbrella is an introduction to the Year Of The Dragon.

The collection encompasses exquisite home decor and haute jewellery pieces, crafted from rare and diverse natural materials. Materials such as Brazilian vine, ostrich eggshell and an extensive spectrum of gemstones.

The “Swirling Dragon Liana Wood Sculpture” is decorated with a sterling silver Chinese dragon, embellished with red stone’s eyes. Liana is a jungle vine, notable for its organic twisting form, found in the tropical and temperate climate in the Mountains of Brazil. Each section of the vine is selected for its aesthetic and functional qualities, before being dried, hollowed out and treated. Liana wood is rather rare and the one used may be more than 100 years old. It took six craftsmen more than two months to complete this piece from design to wax carving the silver texture to finish.

The “Cinnabar Cloud Bowl With Silver Dragon” is a hand-carved and hand-layered cinnabar lacquer cloud bowl with a mythical sterling silver dancing dragon, winding in and out of the bowl. The prime inspiration for the bowl comes from the natural material, cinnabar or dragon blood that refers to the deep red colour of lacquer, which is a natural product made from the sap of the lac tree.

The “White Dragon Carved Jade Earrings” are 18k gold adorned with a white dragon carved from nephrite. It has been embellished with diamonds, rubellite and tsavorite set in brilliant 18k yellow gold. Adding a touch of vibrancy, a tsavorite is set in 18K yellow gold in the dragon’s eye, infusing the artwork with life and character. The jade originated in Myanmar and is hand-carved in China. Alexander Lamont

This season Alexander Lamont has launched two new collections. The Le Mur “Studio” collection has six fresh patterns in a straw marquetry as an ode to the beauty and ingenuity of nature as reflected in human creativity. The Couture collection of furniture and lighting has re-imagined some of the brand’s iconic designs in rich new colours and tone-on-tone finishes.

Drawing on a palette that is inspired by nature, the new group called Cicada, is enveloped in warm neutrals, soft celadons and blues and shimmering ambers, ebonies and cast metals, expanding the breadth of colours available, and bringing new textures and materials.

Pleiades Vases, the iconic limited-edition collection of dinanderie vessels has also been recreated. Working with lacquer and eggshell and the techniques of casting and repoussé, each vase is crafted by a single artisan from start to finish. The new version of the Helio Jar has patterns inspired by the Azulejo tiles of Portugal. The mosaics in white eggshell contrasted with the luminosity of the black lacquer create a vibrant anima on the vessel’s surface. The Helio Jar with a sickle motif is a smaller version with an array of crescent moons suspended within a sky of soft pink eggshell inlay.

The collections are available at the Alexander Lamont Gallery and online.

Jim Thompson

Bold colours and retro charm intertwine in Jim Thompson’s Spring 2024 Home Furnishings Collection, which is a testament to combining timeless elegance with sustainable innovation.

The collections, No.9 Thompson and Fox Linton use dark and deep jewel tones to make a statement, moving away from the neutral palettes that have dominated in recent years, giving rooms a sense of velvety mystery. This is accompanied by a renewed appreciation for romantic designs, which include pinks, reds, florals, and lace, proving that these elements can be both sensual and avant-garde.

The Bloom collection is an ode to botanical wonders featuring prints, embroideries and weaves that celebrate the beauty of nature. Complementing this is the Solstice Indoor/Outdoor Fabrics Collection, which combines soft chenille yarns with durable performance and a vibrant colour range to ensure both style and functionality in any setting.

The brand embraces the stone fruit chic trend, highlighting peach fuzz and apricot crush as key hues for the year. Visit the shops and online.
