Central Chidlom to reveal total new look by Q4

First opened on January 23, 1973, Central Chidlom is undergoing renovation, with a budget of four billion baht, and aims to launch a completely new look by the fourth quarter of this year.

With "The Store Of Bangkok" concept, the refreshed version of the half-century department store aims to be an exemplar of a luxury retail destination. The renovation highlights include a new facade showcasing Thai culture, an expansion of the atrium area, a new bridge connecting level 1 to the luxury floor and an expansion of the existing bridge which connects Central Chidlom to BTS Chidlom.

The bridge to the BTS will feature a new sky terrace for customers to relax. Rose pink will be the new signature colour of Central Chidlom (its logo is inspired by roses, after all), which will be prominently featured in the form of terrazzo around the drop-off point and its interior. The facade will be covered with transparent glass, which will beautifully glow at night. The brains behind Central Chidlom's new look are Thai and international design masters, including British architect John Pawson.

Shoppers can expect to purchase from world-class tenants such as Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Celine, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, Roger Vivier at Luxe Galerie and Shoes Avenue. There will also be exclusive products and brands that you can't find anywhere else. At the beauty zone, 150 global brands await with flagship stores from Dior and Chanel.

Sneakerheads should be pleased to know that there will be a zone dedicated to cool kicks and street fashion called Sneakers Boulevard. It will feature 800 pairs of sneakers ranging from the latest drops to rare pairs.

You know how crucial dining options are to a Bangkok mall experience and Central Chidlom boasts 60 eateries. In terms of services, shoppers can expect upgraded concierge lounges, personal shopping assistants and digital parking.

Top spenders (or the 1%) can sign up for Cenfinity, a private loyalty programme at Central Embassy and Central Chidlom. It comes with many perks such as Michelin-starred dinners and access to exclusive events but Cenfinity members also have access to enjoy perks at department stores abroad under Central.

The refreshed luxury, beauty and fashion zones are ready to welcome customers now. In anticipation of the official launch of its new look in December, a few events have been lined up.

The Shoes Avenue will be launched on March 28. On April 25, Luxe Galerie will be officially launched with an extravagant party across three floors. From Oct 24-28, Central's annual flower show will take place but this year's edition promises to be more spectacular than ever.
