Help spread love and joy to children in need

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

While our remaining days of 2017 are full of Christmas and New Year parties and unwrapping our gift boxes, impoverished and needy children are also looking forward to unwrapping their presents too.

As part of the celebrations for National Children's Day which falls every year on the second Saturday of January, the Mirror Foundation (both Bangkok and Chiang Rai offices) together with the Duang Prateep Foundation, whose mission is to provide better livelihoods and education for poor kids as well as those living in slum areas, has launched a gift campaign, inviting the kind-hearted to donate their unused things which can make a present for their Children's Day.

The foundations welcome a wide range of items (no gift wrapping needed) from dolls and toys to stationery, drawing and painting kits, sport equipment and outfits, bicycles, snacks, milk and so forth. The donated items can be both new or second-hand.

These can be donated at the Mirror Foundation whose Bangkok branch is located at 191 Vibhavadi Rangsit 62 Road, Tambon Talad Bang Khen, Laksi District, Bangkok 10210. The donated items can also be mailed to the given address. For those who wish to make donations for the Chiang Rai office, the address is 241 Moo 1, Tambon Mae Yao, Muang District, Chiang Rai, 57100. Donations can be made every day -- 9.30am to 6pm on weekdays and 10am to 6pm on weekends -- from now until Jan 12. These presents will be distributed to foundations and networks across the country working to make children happy.

Delivery services are also available to help transport your donated items to the Mirror Foundation. They are offered by several companies namely Thailand Post, Nim Express, Kerry Express, SCG Express, TP Logistics and Deliveree. Fees apply and vary according to each delivery company.

But even if you have nothing to donate for Children's Day presents, you can choose to support poor kids by buying them a gift and meal set.

Each set costs 250 baht and will be provided to kids living in slum areas through the Duang Prateep Foundation. You may also make your donation through money transfer to the Duang Prateep Foundation, account number 017-2-06336-5, Kasikorn Bank. Call 02-671-4045--8.
