Huge crowds camped out before dawn and gathered in the Rattanakosin area to watch Saturday's final rehearsal of processions carrying the royal urn from the Grand Palace to the recently completed royal crematorium at Sanam Luang.

Three processions were organising early on Saturday to transport the royal urn from the Dusit Maha Prasart Throne Hall within the Grand Palace to the Great Victory Chariot in front of Wat Phra Chetuphon.

After that, the royal urn was to move on its chariot to the royal crematorium at Sanam Luang.

Officials manned nine checkpoints in the vicinity of the rehearsal, and began admitting spectators at 5am.

Eighteen roads in the vicinity were closed from late Friday night until the end of the rehearsal Saturday afternoon.
