Midfielder Daniel Garcia Rodriguez has joined Samut Prakan City on loan from Thai League 1 leaders BG Pathum United, the clubs said on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old Spaniard, also known as Toti, will play for Samut Prakan in the second leg of the season, which begins this weekend.

Toti joined BG Pathum United in 2015 when they were known as Bangkok Glass.

He has played 149 games for the Rabbits and scored 31 goals in all competitions.

After 15 games, BG are Thai League 1 leaders with 41 points, seven ahead of Port who have a game in hand. Samut Prakan are sixth on 22 points.

Toti was deemed surplus to requirements at BG because they have several attacking players including new striker Diogo Luis Santo who is likely to make his Rabbits debut this weekend.

Meanwhile, Japanese league club Consadole Sapporo have parted company with Thai goalkeeper Kawin Thamsatchanan.

In a statement, Consadole said the club's contract with Kawin had expired.

Kawin joined Consadole from Belgium's OH Leuven in February but did not start a single game in the Japanese top league.

He only played two games for the Sapporo-based team in the League Cup.

Kawin thanked the club for his stint in Japan.

"I think I can use what I learned in Japan for my next team," he said.

Kawin, one of the best Thai goalkeepers of this generation, played for Muang Thong United before moving to OH Leuven.

He is likely to return to Thailand as reports say he is set to join Thai League 1 side Port.
