Leaders BG Pathum United are marching towards their maiden Thai League 1 title after beating second-ranked Port 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Substitute striker Chenrop Samphaodi was the hosts' hero when he netted the winner after 86 minutes.

Port went in front when Ko Seul-Ki scored in the 30th minute but Victor Cardozo equalised for the home team two minutes later as the first half ended 1-1.

The Rabbits were the better side in the second half but could not break Port's defence until Chenrop beat goalkeeper Worawut Srisupha with four minutes remaining.

Port's Sergio Suarez did find the back of the net in the dying moments but the effort was ruled out for a handball following a VAR review.

Dusit Chalermsan's men are now 16 points ahead of Port, who have suffered three consecutive league losses, with 10 matches left.

Pathum remain the only unbeaten team in the top flight this term.

It has been a bad spell for Port who as defending champions were knocked out of the FA Cup earlier this month.

Pathum next host Bangkok United while Port are at home to Trat on Saturday.

Elsewhere, hosts Samut Prakan rallied from two goals down inside the first 22 minutes to beat Muang Thong United 4-2.

The Kirins raced to a 2-0 lead with goals from Sardor Mirzayev and Willian Popp.

But Samut Prakan staged a fightback with two goals each by Tardeli Reis and Jakkaphan Praisuwan before half-time.

Caion gave hosts Suphanburi the lead after just seven minutes but Bangkok United hit back with strikes by Pokklaw Anan and Heberty Fernandes for a 2-1 advantage at half-time.

Heberty was on target again after 81 minutes and Leandro Assumpcao cut the deficit to 3-2 two minutes later.

In Wednesday's other match, visiting Trat stunned Sukhothai 4-2.

The win keeps alive Trat's hope of avoding the drop.

In Thursday's action, struggling champions Chiang Rai United, who are currently eighth, host Nakhon Ratchasima.

Also, Chonburi are at home to PT Prachuap in a meeting of two relegation contenders.
