The Thai women's ended their third week of the 2021 Volleyball Nations League with a 3-0 loss to the Dominican Republic in Rimini, Italy, yesterday.

With 18 points from Yonkaira Pena, the Dominicans beat the Thais 25-16, 25-17, 25-23.

Pleumjit Thinkaow was Thailand's top scorer with 12 points and Onuma Sittirak made seven.

Thailand remain winless, having suffered nine successive defeats in the 16-team tournament.

Thailand's Karina Krause said: "Everybody in our team did a great job. We all tried to do our best, but unfortunately it was not enough against the Dominican Republic because they are a very tall team and we were not able to pass their blocks.

"This week we did a good job and improved a lot in every game and I think we can do even better next week."

Thailand had lost 3-1 to both Turkey and Russia in the third week.

Thailand will begin their fourth week against Germany on Saturday. They will then meet Poland on Sunday and Brazil on Monday. The top-four teams after five weeks reach the semi-finals of the annual tournament.

Thailand are currently last in the third edition of the VNL, having finished 15th and 12th in the first two tournaments.
