Buriram United defeated Chonburi 2-1 on Wednesday night to move closer to the Thai League 1 title.

In-form forward Supachai Chaided scored twice for the Thunder Castle in the seventh and 55th minutes at Chang Arena. Thailand international Supachai is now joint top scorer with Nongbua Pitchaya's Hamilton Soares with 14 goals.

South Korea's Yoo Byung-Soo cut the deficit to 2-1 after 62 minutes as the Sharks remained winless in their last five games.

Buriram hold a big lead with five matches remaining.

Meanwhile, Teerasak Po-on has resigned as coach of relegation contenders Nakhon Ratchasima.

The Swat Cats are 12th on 28 points, just three above the drop zone. Teerasak joined Nakhon Ratchasima in 2020 and steered the team to ninth place at the end of that season.

Former Thailand international Pichai Kongsri is expected to succeed him.

"I'd like to thank the fans for their support," Teerasak said. "I hope they continue giving support to the new coach."
