Thai sisters Moriya and Ariya Jutanugarn are counting down the days until what they believe will be a "really special" homecoming when they compete in next month's US$1million Aramco Team Series -- Bangkok.

The Bangkok natives spoke with Thai media on Tuesday from Los Angeles as they look ahead to competing in the three-day Ladies European Tour (LET) event at Thai Country Club from May 12-14.

The Aramco Team Series -- Bangkok is a new event for the 2022 LET season and will see about 100 professionals from around the world play both as teams and individuals, with amateur players part of their teams.

While the sisters are excited about playing in the event, they also admitted that coming back home for a week's competition is something equally as exhilarating.

Moriya said: "I have experience from playing the Aramco Team Series in Spain last year. I loved the event. I really liked everything -- it was one of my favourite weeks last year, actually.

"Now, we have the same tournament in Thailand, I'm very excited to play in Thailand this time."

Two-time major winner Ariya said: "It's really easy this time for me to be one of the players to play in this event because since my sister went to play in Spain, she's told me how good everything about ATS events is. So, I'm like: 'Wow, I'm so excited!' I can't wait to be there."

As global touring professionals, the pair spend a lot of their time competing across the USA and Europe.

To come back home to play is an occasion they both savour.

"I would say I feel very excited to see all the fans in Thailand," said Ariya, who won the Honda LPGA Thailand last year.

"We always know the support from the fans that they've been giving to us since we played in Thailand like 10 years ago, and we always feel that."

Moriya added: "When you play in Thailand, it's more exciting. Seeing all the fans that have given us support since we were younger, and of course getting to see friends and family, makes us feel like home."

After Bangkok, the Aramco Team Series will move to London at Centurion Club from June 16-18.

The other stops in the series are Sotogrande in Spain, New York and Jeddah.
