Ratchanok Intanon and mixed doubles pair Supak Jomkoh and Supissara Paewsampran advanced to the quarter-finals of the US$360,000 Malaysia Masters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Ratchanok is the sole survivor in the singles event after Pornpawee Chochuwong, Phittayaporn Chaiwan and Kantaphon Wangcharoen all bowed out yesterday.

Mixed doubles top seeds Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai also made a shock exit at the World Tour Super 500 event.

Eighth seed Ratchanok, who claimed her first title in two years on Sunday at the Malaysia Open, eased past Fitriani Fitriani of Indonesia 21-6, 21-15 to progress to the last eight.

The Thai ace will face third seed An Se-Young today after the Korean defeated Julie Dawall Jakobsen of Denmark 21-11, 21-13.

Supak and Supissara defeated Chen Tang Jie and Valeree Siow of Malaysia 21-10, 21-12 to reach the quarter-finals where they will play third seeds Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino of Japan.

However Supak was unable to continue his men's doubles progress after he and his playing partner Kittinupong Kedren lost to sixth seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Adrianto of Indonesia 21-14, 21-14.

In the women's singles event, Pornpawee lost to fourth seed Chen Yufei of China 21-19, 21-13. Chen lost to Ratchanok in the Malaysia Open final on Sunday. Phittayaporn suffered defeat at the hands of sixth seed Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 16-21, 21-17, 21-12.

Mixed doubles top seeds Dechapol and Sapsiree were stunned by Dutch duo Robin Tabeling and Selena Piek 17-21, 21-15, 21-13.

Women's doubles stars Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai also crashed out. They lost to China's Du Yue and Li Wenmei 22-20, 21-15.

Men's singles star Kantaphon exited the tournament after losing to Chico Aura DWI Wardoyo of Indonesia 18-21, 21-11, 21-9.

In other notable results, women's top seed Akane Yamaguchi advanced with a 12-21, 21-13, 21-12 victory over China's Wang Zhiyi; second seed Tai Tzu-ying beat Goh Jin Wei of Malaysia 16-21, 21-17, 21-9 and seventh seed Pusarla V Sindhu of India defeated Zhang Yiman of China 21-12, 21-10.

Men's second seed Kento Momota, runner-up at the Malaysia Open, moved into the last eight with a 21-15, 21-16 win over fellow Japanese Kanta Tsuneyama.
