Thailand coach Mano Polking wants the War Elephants to get a good result in their Fifa Day friendly with Taiwan at Kaohsiung Stadium on Friday.

Polking, who addressed a pre-match press conference along with national team captain Chanathip Songkrasin on Thursday, said he is expecting an exciting game.

"The fact that these matches are taking place during the off-season has allowed us to prepare the team well," said Polking.

"We have got a mix of seasoned campaigners and young players here as we have drafted four players from the national SEA Games [U22] team in this side.

"We can all look forward to a good game."

The German-Brazilian coach added that it was important for the Thai team to go all-out for a win "because we didn't do well in our previous friendlies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)".

"I have told the players to stay focused on the game all the time.

"Although it's raining quite a bit but weather here shouldn't pose any major problems for us."

Chanathip is also expecting a close game with Taiwan on Friday.

"It's an away match so it won't be an easy outing for us," said the crafty midfielder.

"Many people believe that we will win easily, but in football, no one can predict the outcome.

"We must execute the plan and do the right things. That's the most important thing. The result doesn't matter much. A team can lose after a good game while another can win after playing badly."

The match will be broadcast live on Thai Rath TV and AIS Play, starting 6pm on Friday.

The Thais will play their next friendly against Hong Kong on Monday.
