The match at Brasilia's Nilson Nelson Stadium begins at 7am, Thai time, and will be shown live by Channel 7.

The Thais got off to a decent start to the 2023 VNL with wins over Canada and South Korea and losses to defending champions Italy and Poland in the first week in Turkey.

However, Danai Sriwacharamaytakul's team are still looking for their first victory in the second week after a 3-1 loss to Germany and a 3-0 defeat against the USA.

The undefeated Americans finished off Thailand 25-21, 25-18, 25-16 on Thursday.

Against Serbia, it could be a good opportunity for the Thais to seal their first win of the week.

Thailand were 10th in the 16-team standings while Serbia sat 12th with just one win from six matches.

The top eight sides after three weeks in the preliminary phase qualify for the finals.

Meanwhile, USA coach Karch Kiraly's strategy of integrating some more experienced players into the young squad that played in the opening week for this week in Brazil has proven to be a successful one as the Olympic champions relied on that mix to overcome the Thais, who have two wins in six matches.

Opposite Jordan Thompson followed up on a strong VNL debut against Croatia on Tuesday, leading all scorers against Thailand, with 15 points (14 kills and one block).

Outside hitters Chatchu-On Moksri and Ajcharaporn Kongyot carried the Thai offence against the world No.2 Americans.

Chatchu-On produced 13 points (10 kills, one ace and two blocks) and Ajcharaporn added another 10, with eight kills and two blocks.
