A Stefan Scepovic strike in the first half helped former champions Muang Thong United get back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over hosts Trat in a Thai League 1 clash on Monday night.

The win after two straight losses in the league pushed Muang Thong to sixth place in the table with 13 points.

Bangkok United, who have two games in hand, lead the standings on 22 points.

The Kirins were denied a goal in the 11th minute when the referee ruled that Chayapol Supma had scored from an offside position.

The winner came after 40 minutes when Weerathep Pomphan opened the ball for Scepovic to guide a header home.

Trat came back strongly in the second half with Jorge Fellipe forcing a save from Muang Thong goalkeeper Korrakot Pipatnatda.

The home team controlled the game and succeeded in putting the ball into the net but only to see the goal disallowed by the referee after a VAR check, which showed that scorer Jorge had fouled the Kirins's Songwut Kraikruan.

Muang Thong's Poramet Arjvilai and Trat's Thitawee Aksornsri took turns to miss late opportunities and the Kirins bagged three points.

Also on Monday night, hosts Police Tero squandered a two-goal advantage to settle for a 2-2 draw and share a point with Lamphun Warriors.

Police Tero got goals from Kwame Karikari (seventh minute) and Jeong Woo-Geun (12th) but Lamphun hit back with an 18th-minute strike by Dennis Murillo.

Lamphun were left with 10 men after Patcharapol Intanee was sent off for a foul on Jeong after 88 minutes.

The depleted Warriors fought on and claimed the equaliser a minute later when Mohammed Osman secured the draw for the visitors.
