The highly-anticipated showdown between Tawanchai PK Saenchai and Superbon Singha Mawynn finally has a date.

The pair were slated to clash for Tawanchai's ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title in a blockbuster ONE Fight Night 17 main event next month.

However, an undisclosed illness suffered by the reigning divisional ruler now means the contest will headline Dec 22's ONE Lumpinee 46 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.

The latest delay marks the second time that fight fans have been forced to wait to see the Thai superstars face off.

A calf injury forced Superbon to withdraw from their previous date at ONE Fight Night 15.

Tawanchai went on to face "Smokin" Jo Nattawut at the Oct 7 event.

He came out on top by unanimous decision after a pulsating, back-and-forth featherweight kickboxing battle.

The victory extended the 24-year-old's win streak to six, for an overall career record of 131-31-2.

Tawanchai has campaigned under kickboxing rules in his last two fights as he searches for a second world title to add to his collection.

But he will return to his roots on Dec 22 in a bid to defend his featherweight Muay Thai strap for the second time against Superbon.

The former two-time ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion rebounded from his shocking title loss to Chingiz Allazov at ONE Fight Night 11 in June.

The 33-year-old dispatched Turkish contender Tayfun Ozcan with a highlight-reel head kick knockout in the second round to remind the division why he is one of the best featherweight strikers on the planet.

Superbon is also the No.1 ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender, and the 149-fight veteran will look to add arguably the biggest scalp yet -- and another world title -- to his already impressive resume.

ONE Lumpinee 46 is shaping up to be a Christmas treat in Asian primetime, as Tawanchai v Superbon joins the previously announced ONE interim women's atomweight kickboxing world title clash between Thai phenom "The Queen" Phetjeeja and French Algerian superstar Anissa Meksen.
