Sarit hopes to do his best to retain Indonesian title

Jakarta: Sarit Suwannarut is ready to defend his title at the Indonesian Masters which tees off today at Royale Jakarta Golf Club.

"I feel really good. I've played in Indonesia a lot of times. I feel comfortable playing in Indonesia and I like the course," said the Thai star, who won the China Open two weeks ago.

He admitted that his overall performance this year was not very good.

"This year is not really good. I've been struggling with a little injury and had a bad mental state," he said.

"I have started getting better. I had vacation before the China Open with my family in Japan, and that helped as I won one."

Sarit, who missed the cut at last week's Hong Kong Open, said he would do his best to retain the Indonesian Masters crown.

"I'm not really expecting anything -- it's a new year, a new event. I just want to go out there and play my best, and let's see what happens," he said.

"If you play well and someone beats you, you can't help it so I just try to play my best and see what happens."

The Indonesian Masters features major champions Patrick Reed and Graeme McDowell.

Sarit and a number of Thailand's top golfers have reason to shine at Royale Jakarta Golf Club -- a life-changing opportunity awaits, as this season's International Series Order of Merit is finalised.

They include Gunn Charoenkul, Sadom Kaewkanjana, Chonlatit Chuenboonngam and Phachara Khongwatmai.

With Andy Ogletree crowned Order of Merit champion last weekend at the Hong Kong Open, his place on the LIV Golf League has been rubber-stamped for next season.

The standings are still very much alive however, with three additional golden tickets still up for grabs through the LIV Golf Promotions event from Dec 8-10 at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
