Turn your golf routine upside down

Thank you for the lovely feedback on my past tips. Please allow me to reiterate once more that half of our shots are struck within 60 yards of the hole.

However, if you see the average player practising, where are they? Most likely they're on the range smashing away with the driver. If you ask the average golfer what percentage of their practice time is spent on the short game in comparison to hitting the longer shots, they'll probably say around 10-20%. But this is a white lie. The average golfer will devote only 15 minutes to stroking a few putts, if there's time, before heading off to the 1st tee, that's about it for the short-game practice.

If you want to see improvement in your game and cut off four to six shots in a few weeks, you must make a radical change in the way you practise. So why not experiment and turn your routine upside down and devote 90 percent of your practice time to chipping/putting and only 10 percent to the full swing. If you do this, your scores will be several shots better. I guarantee it. I can see you all nodding your heads and saying yes Brett, I know that's what I ought to do. But alas instead, l will see you all on the range, swinging like a gorilla hitting 40 drives in a row for the thrill of those 4 or 5 that might be well struck.

Out of Bounds: Those golfers who try to destroy your happy demeanour on the course, do so out of jealousy of the way you play the game.
