Mr Dhanawat suggests business models need to be strategically digital.

IT powerhouse Microsoft has highlighted hybrid work, digital priority, cloud, strategic partnership, citizen developers and sustainable development among crucial elements that would shape the country and business for growth.

Meanwhile, the software giant indicates it would consider setting up a data centre in Thailand if there is a regulation to ensure the government cannot interfere in the business to obtain data.

"Over the past 19 months, the pandemic has affected people's lives and posed challenges for business. It encourages people to embrace changes and uncertainty," said Dhanawat Suthumpun, managing director of Microsoft Thailand.

He delivered the remarks in a virtual media conference yesterday, which marked the fourth anniversary of his leadership at Microsoft Thailand.

The company foresees eight new normal trends that would lead to innovation.

The first is called an "anywhere and everywhere work mode", Mr Dhanawat said. People can now do various tasks with digital innovations from study to work and play.

The second lies in digital first world perspectives. With everything going digital, all systems are becoming digital-first, including business models that have to be strategically digital, he said.

The third involves cloud economy. There has been a rapid rise of "economy driven by cloud".

The fourth concerns a new generation of business and intelligence where businesses need to be driven by data.

The fifth lies in strategic economic partnership. Now businesses need to have purpose-driven strategic partnerships for greater success.

The sixth is linked to efforts to support people's digital skills, making them become citizen developers. It is vital that people can harness technology to create and enhance their own work, including developing applications with low coding or non-code tools.

Microsoft's power platform services can inspire non-tech professionals to become citizen developers as they can use low or no code tools to engage in data analysis to solve issues in their work, he said.

The seventh is connected with "economy of trust", where trust is paramount for all products and service, Mr Dhanawat said. It is vital to create people's trust in the security and technology of products and service.

The final feature is sustainable development. The environment must be taken into account by businesses to ensure they can create true sustainability.

In the company's fiscal 2022, which started in June, Microsoft continues to focus on its Azure cloud services that can support specific needs among various industries, including finance, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and non-profit organisations.

The new Windows 365 service supports hybrid world with security and Microsoft recently ushered in cloud for sustainability -- a new suite of solutions that empowers organisations to operate more sustainably through new ways to gather and record data and evaluate work in reducing environment footprint.
