92 illegal motorbike racers rounded up

Police arrested 92 teenagers and seized from them 92 motorcycles for illegally racing on Vibhavadi Rangsit road in an operation involving 200 metropolitan police.

The operation was launched at 11pm and ended after midnight. The illegal racers were arrested while passing various checkpoints set up along Vibhavadi Rangsit road.

The arrested teens, aged 15-18, and their motorcycles, most of them modified, were brought to the Patrol and Special Operations Division headquarters for legal processing.

Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakphan, the acting commander of the Patrol and Special Operations Division, said their parents would be invited to meet the police on Tuesday when they would be asked to cooperate by keeping a close watch on their children.
