Bangkok University will close two campuses for two weeks starting from Saturday after a student was suspected of having contracted a coronavirus infection.

Classes will continue to be offered online during the closure period, said the announcement signed by BU president Petch Osathanugrah.

The closure is intended to prevent the spread of the virus as it would clear the way for the university to clean and disinfect the campuses, the statement added.

The decision followed a report that a student could be infected with Covid-19 and is under close watch by the Disease Control Department.

All students and personnel who have been in contact with the student have been ordered to undertake a 14-day quarantine, it said.

The university has a city campus in Phra Khanong and a second campus in Rangsit district of Pathum Thani.
