There were 7,706 new Covid-19 cases and 66 more fatalities recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Tuesday morning.
There were 7,578 cases in the general population and 128 among prison inmates.
The number of new cases dropped from the 8,675 announced on Monday, when the country recorded 44 more deaths.
On Monday, 9,532 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 1,838,000 Covid-19 patients, 1,722,422 of whom have recovered to date.
Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 1,866,863 Covid-19 cases, with 1,749,848 complete recoveries so far.
The death toll stood at 18,771 during the third wave and 18,865 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The 66 new fatalities were between the ages of 28 and 101 years old including one Myanmar and one Pakistani nationals. One fatality was a pregnant woman in Satun who had not been vaccinated.
Bangkok recorded 12 new deaths while a further 10 were reported in the adjacent provinces of Samut Prakan (8), Pathum Thani (1) and Samut Sakhon (1).
Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded 15 more deaths – in Rayong (5), Kanchanaburi (2), Prachuap Khiri Khan (2), Ratchaburi (2), Chon Buri (2), Prachin Buri (1) and Suphan Buri (1).
The Northeast had eight new fatalities – in Chaiyaphum (2), Roi Et (1), Nakhon Ratchasima (1), Khon Kaen (1), Kalasin (1), Ubon Ratchathani (1) and Udon Thani (1).
The South reported 14 more deaths – in Phuket (4), Nakhon Si Thammarat (3), Surat Thani (2), Satun (2), Chumphon (1), Narathiwat (1) and Phathalung (1).
The North saw seven new fatalities – in Phitsanulok (2), Nakhon Sawan (2), Kamphaeng Phet (1), Tak (1) and Chiang Mai (1).
The new cases included 7,568 local infections and 10 imported cases.
Of the local infections, 7,234 were confirmed at hospitals and 334 via mass testing.
Bangkok had 901 new cases, followed by 621 in Pattani, 620 in Songkhla, 533 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 355 in Chiang Mai, 322 in Narathiwat, 247 in Yala, 245 in Chon Buri, 229 in Rayong and 227 in Trang. Greater Bangkok reported 1,312 new cases and 22 new deaths. Four southern border provinces had 1,810 new cases and one new fatality, while 67 other provinces recorded 4,446 new cases and 43 new deaths.
The 10 imported cases were from Belgium (4), Russia (1), Denmark (1), France (1), the United Kingdom (2) and the United States (1). On Monday 98,150 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals, including 2,414 seriously ill patients and 544 dependent on ventilators.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 335,112 in 24 hours to 244.84 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 5,289 to 4.97 million.
The US had the most cases at 46.42 million, up 48,771, and the most deaths at 757,849, up 510.
