The boat service along Khlong Saen Saeb in Bangkok was suspended on Thursday after heavy rain overnight caused a sharp rise in the water level.

The operator, Family Transport (2002), said the service was halted from 6am until noon, when a fresh assessment would be made.

The announcement said the downpour that pounded the capital overnight raised the canal level and made it difficult for its boats to pass under the Wat Sri Boonruang bridge.

If the water level remained high the suspension would be extended. It would keep the public advised.

At 2.30pm, a news live stream from Wat Thep Leela pier in Bang Kapi district showed the service had still not resumed.

Rakhamhaeng University on Thursday announced it was suspending lecture sessions at the university in Hua Mak area and its campus in Bang Na for one day because of flooding inside and outside the premises.
