Members of the public health sector are urging the government to promote the idea of Thailand as a medical hub during Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin's visit to Saudi Arabia to draw high-end visitors, says Thai trade representative Nalinee Thavisin.

Ms Nalinee held a discussion with Panacee Group representatives on Thursday regarding a wellness market expansion to the Middle East region.

It coincides with Mr Srettha's trip to Saudi Arabia, which ends on Saturday. He boarded a flight from Beijing to Riyadh on Thursday.

Ms Nalinee said the public health sector wants the government to form a relationship with Saudi Arabia's public health ministry so those who suffer from cancer, critical state diabetes, kidney failure, and heart disease due to diabetes can be treated in Thailand.

She added that most Middle Eastern patients, especially Saudis, have visited Thailand for treatment and were satisfied with the results.

She said Panacee Medical Centre is aiming to modernise traditional medicine so it can be accepted around the world.

It provided clients with intravenous therapy, cell therapy, Royal Court Pharmacopoeia and traditional remedies, such as Thai local herbs and cannabis, she said.

Panacee's service responded well to the government's wellness tourism policy, aiming to make the country a medical destination and a medical hub not only for Asean but other countries around the world, she said.

Ms Nalinee said the goal stems from the country's reputation for wellness tourism.
