Thailand and Cambodia have vowed to boost defence and trade relations while also agreeing to hold a General Border Committee meeting in March, according to Defence Minister Sutin Klungsang.
Mr Sutin visited Cambodia yesterday, his first time since taking office, to tighten defence ties, the ministry said.
He was greeted by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, and the two discussed policies to boost collaboration along the border.
Mr Sutin said Cambodia has agreed to host the 16th General Border Committee meeting to further boost demining efforts along the border. The GBC meeting is scheduled to take place in March next year, he said.
Apart from demining, Mr Sutin also discussed national security issues, such as extraditions, military assistance, investment and tourism.
Mr Sutin also accompanied Gen Tea Seiha, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, to inspect an honour guard.
Mr Sutin said the relationship between Thailand and Cambodia, especially military ties, has long been close.
The two countries have consistently trained each other's military officers, he said, adding the cooperation on demining will continue.

Moreover, Thailand's Defence Technology Institute will also work with Cambodia's defence ministry to research and develop weapons, he said.
Meanwhile, Gen Seiha thanked Thai authorities along the border for taking care of Cambodian labourers.
He also thanked the Thai army for organising the Asean Armies Rifle Meet and facilitating weapons training for Cambodian military officers, which resulted in improved military skills among their number.
