Their Majesties offer sympathy to Belgium

Their Majesties the King and Queen have sent their sympathies to the Belgian king and the people of Belgium after the terrorist attacks which killed 30 people.

"The Queen and I are shocked and deeply distressed by reports of the terrorist attacks in Brussels resulting in senseless loss of innocent lives and injury," His Majesty said in a letter.

"We wish to express our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Your Majesty, the Belgian people and particularly the members of the bereaved families who have suffered from this tragic attack," the King added.

The message was released by His Majesty's Principal Private Secretary on Wednesday.

Bombings at the airport and a subway station in Brussels on Tuesday left more than 30 dead and 270 injured.
