Thai Airways International will resume flights to Brussels on Saturday as the national carrier assesses the damage to its European routes from the bombings in the Belgian capital.

"THAI will resume flights Bangkok-Brussels-Bangkok from 9 April after the Brussels Zaventem Airport in Belgium was closed following the airport explosions of 22 March," the airline said on its website.

The airline flies four times a week to the Belgian capital. It diverted the flights to Liege after the terror attacks at Zaventem, according to the website.

The airport in Brussels was opened on Sunday after the fatal blasts last month.

THAI advised passengers travelling from Belgium to arrive at Zaventem at least three hours and 30 minutes in advance for check-in as not all facilities at the airport are fully operational, it said.

Teerapol Chotichanapibal, executive president in charge of commerce, said on Thursday the bombings had led to some cancellations and flight rerouting for ticket holders to European destinations. The final analysis of the impact will be completed in the next two weeks, he said, adding that all airlines flying to Europe are in the same situation as THAI.

Mr Teerapol said the airline also expected to restore flights to Russia this year and is studying four possible destinations on a planned return to the United States.

THAI scrapped the Moscow and Los Angeles routes last year as part of its plan to dump loss-making destinations to try to bring it back from the red.

He said the airline will possibly relaunch services to the Russian capital by the end of this year. The airline is exploring flight schedules and the management of aircraft to be deployed on the route, he added.

THAI is eyeing its return to the US next year as the route has long-term potential. It is studying and assessing business prospects in four destinations: Los Angeles, Washington, New York and San Francisco.
