Taiwan Excellence ICT webinar promotes Taiwan-Thailand Cooperation, creating IoT commercial possibilities

With the advent of 5G, several Thai projects such as smart cities and Industry 4.0 are committed to promoting the application of the Internet of Things (IoT). Thus, it is predicted that Thailand’s IoT market will continue growing. Thai government and business sectors are actively introducing ICT products and solutions, which are in line with Taiwan’s industrial advantages. In order to promote cooperation between Thailand and Taiwan in the field of IoT in business, “Taiwan Excellence ICT Webinar 2020” was held on November 5, organised by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), MOEA, Taiwan, R.O.C., and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). Representatives from four leading Taiwanese companies, including Zyxel Networks Corp., EverFocus Electronics Corp., Micro-Star Int'l Co., Ltd., and AVer Information Inc., presented their advanced products, including security services, industrial PCs, mobile network video recorders, gaming laptop accessories, conference solutions, and more.

Ms. Leonor F. M. Lin, President & CEO of TAITRA noted at the opening that in the past few years, the Thai government has unveiled a 4.0 economic model to develop Thailand into a valued-based economy. Studies show that the IoT market in Thailand is set to grow, driven mostly by consumer-related IoT, to US$2.19 billion by 2030. Taiwan is a well-known ICT manufacturing hub due to its strong ICT industry base and IoT development. A partnership between Taiwan and Thailand would benefit both countries and create a win-win scenario as the IoT industry grows.

Mr. Roger Huang, Director, Research Center, DIGITIMES highlighted that ICT service penetration and usage are over 80% in Taiwan, and with well-developed industrial clusters. As the coming of IoT, mass customization became new norm of business operation. In addition, facing the challenge of low-price competition of pure hardware, industry people would like to leverage their hardware capabilities to build total solutions. Specifically, digital transformation has become the main theme for companies all over the world. The capability of developing smart applications of Taiwan companies can be the right partners to cooperate.

Mr. Justin Lin, Product Line Manager, Zyxel Networks Corp., presented on the topic of " Zyxel firewalls taking part in tightening ASEAN security and the digital revolution." He stated that nowadays, threat visibility has become more important. SecuReporter, a cloud-based analytics tool, gains a clearer picture of what is happening on your security devices. He also mentioned that hybrid cloud is the trend, USG FLEX Series, a new series of mid-range firewalls designed for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to keep up with workplace mobility, connectivity, and security requirements. The new USG FLEX 100/200/500 firewalls feature upgraded hardware and software power that level up SMB security with up to 125 percent of firewall performance and up to an additional 500 percent Unified Threat Management (UTM) performance.

Ms. Kate Chen, Sales Manager, and Anna Lin, Marketing Specialist, EverFocus Electronics Corp. focused on the company’s "Fleet Management System using AI at the Edge". They demonstrated that EverFocus has been engaged in the field of vehicle electronic monitoring for many years. eIVP5600 is EverFocus's first industrial fanless NVR product. Supporting AI and delivering high computing performance, it has an aluminum alloy casing and an elegant line heat-conducting design and is suitable for railway and fleet management. The eIVP5600 provides 8 PoE ports to connect to the network IP camera along with a GbE port. In addition to two 2.5-inch hard disk slots it also includes a detachable hot-swappable SSD hard disk for easy storage capacity expansion. Ms. Jimmy Chen, Specialist, Ms. Rebecca Liao, Specialist, and Mr. Chris Peng, Specialist, Micro-Star Int'l Co., Ltd. introduced their "MSI's comprehensive laptops and gaming products". They mentioned that MSI represented the highest gaming brand, providing the best gaming experience in the world, because MSI’s products such as cooling system, high performance structure, and fantastic visual and audio system are designed by experienced R&D team and gamers. MSI’s next step is to conquer a new market, content creation, with the Creator 15, a creative tool suitable for graphic designers, photographers, filmmakers, composers and web designers, to bring their art to life.

Ms. Stephanie Chen, International Sales Manager, AVer Information Inc. presented on the topic of "Connect the Classroom, Connect the World". She noted that distance education and distance conferences are important during the COVID-19 pandemic, because of the need to avoid face-to-face interaction.
