Huawei Reveals Four Intelligent Steps for Thailand to Become ASEAN’s Digital Hub

One of the most impactful technology trends today is “Digital Transformation”, opening up new opportunities across all industries, maximizing production and service efficiency in the digital economy era.

Mr. Worrakan Likitdechasak, Chief Telecommunication Network Technology Officer, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Company Limited, highlighted during his keynote speech at Powering Digital Thailand 2021: Huawei Cloud & Connect that several crucial improvements need to be made to fully embrace digital transformation in the country. Huawei’s vision is to facilitate Thailand in becoming the digital hub of the region, with solutions and technologies for improving traditional industries and driving digital economy in the country. To accelerate the transformation, improvement, and recovery of Thailand’s digital economy, Huawei believes there are four crucial intelligent steps to consider while implementing digital technology.

Four Intelligent Steps to Bring Thailand Into the Digital Era

Mr. Worakan mentioned four essential steps in developing the digital infrastructure that will facilitate digital transformation in various industries. The first step is becoming a reliable and high-speed connectivity hub. The high-quality data center, high-speed broadband internet with fiber optic nationwide, and high-speed 5G technology in Thailand will facilitate the second step, becoming Data Center Hub in the region and the use of applications which run on cloud computing technology. The integration of such technologies will enhance the ability to store and process abundant amount of data, which will be stored in the cloud, encourage enterprises to embrace digital transformation, and attract investment from overseas. This brings us to the third step, becoming digital ecosystem hub, as Thailand has industrial area which is ready for this step, such as EEC, and ahas the 5G Ecosystem Innovation Center. These will help facilitate the country to has capability to support local solution partners, system integrators, and integrate technology to various industries, such as healthcare and agriculture. The last step is to become an ICT talent hub. Thailand already has a large number of digital talents comparing to other countries in this region, which will support future trends and attract investment from other countries.

Empowered by 5G + Cloud + AI

The heart of digital transformation consists of 3 words: connectivity, data storage, and computing. Each will be empowered by three solutions: 5G, Cloud, and AI, where 5G is crucial in establishing top reliable connectivity in terms of speed, stability, and low latency, enabling universal connectivity not only between smart devices, but also connecting, through IoT, audio devices, smart watches, cars, and many others. The all-rounded connectivity will enhance universal data collection, while the cloud technology will maximize data storage management efficiency. In the future, cloud solutions will be used by the majority of organisations, and, following technology enhancement, AI will play a key role in effectively processing huge amounts of data, which will improve flexibility and variety of services for organizations around the world.

5G: Unlocking the Fully Connected World

To sustainably grow into the digital era, efficient and reliable communication and connectivity is the key foundation and 5G is the solution that truly answers all the needs. 5G will enable high-speed gigabit connection, leading to the application of other advanced solutions across various industries. One example is the unmanned cars, which will communicate not only with the control center but also with the other vehicles, to smoothen the overall coordination. The last solution that 5G will enable is the extra low latency connection that will unlock a precise control and reaction for drones and industrial machine control.

Together, 5G and other connection and computing solutions will play crucial roles in the digital transformation with sustainability across all industries. Effective connection will facilitate technology applications to enhance industry that will help Thailand’s economic recovery. Moreover, when 5G integrates with Cloud and AI technology, the operations of both government and business sectors in Thailand will be empowered and ready for becoming a true digital hub for ASEAN.
