SEC hosts a merit-making opening ceremony for “SKYMED” establishment in Si Racha as part of EEC expansion

Thai People Council for the Nation, Religion, King, and Sufficiency Economy City Co., Ltd. (SEC) hosted an opening ceremony for its wholly-owned medical equipment and traditional medicines factories under the name “SKYMED” at Khao Khansong sub-district, Si Racha district, Chon Buri province.

The occasion marked SEC’s official expansion into the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) region, following its promise to encourage the country’s economic growth via medical and agricultural advancements, and bring employment opportunities to local citizens.

On 21 May 2021, Sr. Gp. Capt. Kampee Kampeerayannon, Chairman of Thai people Council for the Nation, Religion, King, and CEO of Sufficiency Economy City Co., Ltd., attended the opening ceremony along with SEC executive guests: Air Chief Marshal Theesil Kampeerayannon, founder; Mr. Saksorn Kampeerayannon, Vice Chairman and Operation Manager; Ms. Tharisya Kampeerayannon, Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee and Chief Financial Officer; Mr. Van Ouwerkerk, Executive Director. Attending SEC senior advisors included Mr. Banphot Phothong; Dr. Charoensuk Duanglomchan; Dr. Chatphoom Wiratchan; Mr. Suriya Pongern; Ms. Sasanat Theppakij; Ms. Sudarat Khamsakul, Chief Secretary of Executive Officers; Mr. Puwaned and Ms. Phatarawarin Na Chiangmai, Secretaries of Executive Officers. Other honorary guests attending the opening ceremony were Princess Isabelle Lafforgue; Lt. Gen. Mr. Waroros Boriphat; Mrs. Sareephat Inthasiri; Am. Sangkhom Yuwanimi, and; Dr. Sergej-Nawaz Bashir.

In the past, SEC had to outsource several domestic and international original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to create SKYMED products. By running its own factories, the company would gain full control over its product development and production capacity, and be able to perform different types of machine testing to achieve the best innovations possible.

All of this, Sr. Gp. Capt. Kampee Kampeerayannon assures, would “strengthen our national technology and production knowledge, as we plan to mainly incorporate the innovations and technologies developed by Thai people in our sites. This will improve Thailand as a manufacturing country, and simultaneously provide Thais with more career opportunities.”

Manufacturing developments aside, the company will also support farmers to make greater use of their land by contracting Thai herbs for oriental medicines production. Products from traditional herbs, such as green chiretta, wrinkle duck-beak, kaempfer, black kaempfer, cannabis, including herbal alcohol gels under the name Blue Swan, are estimated to have high export potential in Europe and America.

Sr. Gp. Capt. Kampee Kampeerayanon further emphasised that people should not get too overwhelmed with the ongoing virus outbreak, and that “the best preventive measures are to strengthen our immunity system by getting sufficient rest, working out regularly, and incorporating Thai herbs into our daily diet.” He also referred to countries that are among the world’s leading medicine manufacturers, such as Germany and Austria, whose citizens have recently switched their attention to herbal diets rather than to rely on synthetic medicines.

“We are striving to amend the ongoing hardship that our country is facing, and we believe that increasing our manufacturing capacity will simultaneously provide a great number of jobs for unemployed people, and recover our economy back to normalcy,” Sr. Gp. Capt. Kampee Kampeerayanon concluded.

After his opening speech, Sr. Gp. Capt. Kampee Kampeerayannon and his team led the honorary guests to see the exhibition and factory sites. Donation of medical gloves and medical masks worth 200,000 baht were made to the representative of Goodness Foundation, Dr. Panadda Wongphudee, and to Lt.Gen. Amnat Barlee, M.D., Director of the Relief and Community Health Bureau from the Thai Red Cross Society.

Another notable attendant, Princess Isabelle Lafforgue, expressed her best wishes for the expansion of SKYMED to compete at global scale. Likewise, Lt. Gen. Mr. Waroros Boriphat mentioned his trust in Sr. Gp. Capt. Kampee Kampeerayanon’s guidance due to his past achievements.
