Chia Tai supports Thailand's development of sustainable agriculture

Presents seminar to discuss a roadmap for technology advancement in the sector

Mr. Manas Chiaravanond, Chief Executive Officer of Chia Tai Company Limited, Thailand's leading innovative agricultural company, joined “The Strategic Research Project to Establish Roadmaps for Agricultural Technology Research and Development" where he laid out his vision for progressing Thai agriculture towards sustainability. He also reemphasised his commitment to the development of innovative agricultural technologies that improve farmers' quality of life and promote food security for consumers.

The forum was organised at Centara Grand at CentralWorld by Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI) in conjunction with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, alongside other research and educational institutes, with an aim to propose and discuss the national technology roadmap in accordance with Thailand's 4.0 strategy. The seminar was participated by various government agencies and private organisations that are major drivers in the agricultural industry.

Mr. Manas unveiled a clear vision and perspective about the roadmap. “With longstanding experience in the agricultural industry, Chia Tai recognises the issues that have direct impacts on agriculture, including the fact that climate change causes natural disasters that significantly impair farmland. Moreover, lack of human resources to carry agricultural knowledge from generation to generation is causing a risk to the stability of agricultural careers. Moreover, cultivating a positive mindset regarding agricultural professions is also essential,” he said.

“Applying research-based innovation and technology to agriculture increases cultivation efficiency and people's ability to deal with rapidly changing nature and weather conditions, resulting in long-term security and career stability. More importantly, it aids in shifting the image of farming careers from traditional farming to smart farming. In terms of consumers, quality agriculture matches not only current healthcare trends, but also upcoming aging society trends, in that consumers want fresh, clean, secure foods that can be traced back to the sources.”

Recognising that development of new breakthroughs is a key factor in self-improvement, business success, and social development, Chia Tai places a high priority on innovation as one of the organisation's four core values. Currently, Chia Tai is transitioning from “Inputs Provider” to “Solutions Provider” in a bid to actively boost cultivation capacity in terms of quality and quantity. Meanwhile, Chia Tai is establishing a complete agribusiness supply chain by opening Chia Tai Farm shops where the aim is to deliver fresh and safe produce. Taken altogether this is expected to benefit Thailand's macroeconomic profile as a foundation for rapid development of sustainable agriculture.
