Finding high-quality people for service businesses

The spread of Covid-19 has had a major impact on businesses around the world, especially tourism and other service sectors. Businesses in these fields have been hit hard directly by social distancing measures, travel restrictions, and intermittent lockdowns. The hotel business, one of the key players in tourism, is inevitably affected.

However, after a while, people have become more able to adapt carefully and get by amid Covid-19. Many countries around the world, including Thailand, are about to change the status of Covid-19 from pandemic to endemic in order to let people live their New Normal lives.

Since traveling is a key factor that drives Thailand’s economy, the Government has relaxed its disease control measures such as allowing fully vaccinated tourists to enter Thailand without quarantine under certain conditions and releasing tourism recovery campaigns. Additionally, the vaccination rate in Thailand covers much of its citizens, reinforcing the trust of Thai and foreign tourists.

Meanwhile, Krungsri Research analysis has found that the hotel business is likely to recover in 2022-2023.  To encourage the recovery of tourism and other service sectors for both enterprises and workers, Dusit Thani College, one of Thailand’s leading private educational institutes focused on services businesses, under Dusit Thani Group, is hosting Hospitality Talent Fair to enhance the reach of hotels, restaurants, and other service businesses to select qualified workers among graduates and graduating students from Dusit Thani College and other institutes’ hotel management and related programs.

“Dusit Thani College has held Hospitality Career Day annually for 14 years,” said Miss Frouke Gerbens, Rector of Dusit Thani College. “In the past, the event was held for our college students only. But this year, we are elevating it to be the first to operate on the Next Normal principle. This hybrid event allows participants to join the fair both onsite and online. Featuring job application booths from hotels and other services businesses, the event is open to students and graduates from any educational institute with service business programs to find their future careers.

According to the survey, even service sector has been seriously affected by the spread of Covid-19. Now the situation is getting better. Therefore, all service businesses must prepare for the return of growth which means there are lots of vacant positions to be filled. This Hospitality Talent Fair doesn’t only open an opportunity for jobseekers to be hired, but also responds to the needs of enterprises.”

The first hybrid Hospitality Talent Fair will be held on 22-23 April 2022 both onsite and online. The venue for onsite participants is Dusit Thani College on Srinakarin Road (Next to Seacon Square Shopping Center). For online attendees, the event is held on Beamian platform.
