Ajinomoto supports ‘AminoScience’ nutrition program for badminton players

New sponsorship agreement readies badminton athletes’ for national competition

Ajinomoto Co. (Thailand) Ltd., represented by Mr.Ichiro Sakakura, President, and Badminton Association of Thailand, represented by Ms.Patama Leesawattrakoon, President, recently signed a sponsorship agreement to support Badminton Association of Thailand in 2023 under “Thailand Victory Project”.

The objective of the project is to improve the badminton players’ body endurance and ensure that they have sufficient energy to improve their performance. This is achieved by supporting proper diet and nutrition through providing a nutritionally balanced meals program dubbed “Kachimeshi®2” along with “winning meals” and “aminoVITAL®”. The sharing of nutrition- and amino acid-rich foods by Ajinomoto enable the players to reach their highest potential during preparation, exercise and competition.

"Ajinomoto Co." is a global manufacturer of high-quality food and amino acid-based products that has been contributing to food, health, and nutrition through wide-ranging applications of amino acid technologies. Since 2003, Ajinomoto Co. has been working on the Victory Project®1 to support the conditioning of top-level athletes in Japan and conducting nutritional support activities utilizing the power of amino acids, including providing Ajinomoto Group products such as amino VITAL® and promoting the Winning Meals Kachimeshi®2 to sport athletes. Since 2018, seven Ajinomoto Group subsidiaries in the ASEAN region have pursued the ASEAN Victory Project®3 with sports associations, athletes, and sports schools in their respective countries. Ajinomoto Co. will use this official main sponsorship of the SEA Games as an opportunity to provide further support under the ASEAN Victory Project® through its subsidiaries in the ASEAN region. For Ajinomoto Thailand, the project was initiated in 2018 by supporting the sport nutrition program, including knowledge and amino-based products, for the Thailand Volleyball Association. With its tremendous success results, the company has been expanding nutrition supports to the Badminton Association of Thailand since 2020.

Ms. Patama Leesawattrakoon, President of the Badminton Association of Thailand, expressed her gratitude to Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd. for its support to the Association since 2020 and until now. This year, Ajinomoto has provided special support to five athletes who are hoping to participate in the Olympics. This support includes monitoring their body mass index, following up on their nutrition, and providing consultation related to developing a stronger body. Moreover, the Badminton Association of Thailand is also grateful to Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd. for their kind support in providing nutritionally balanced meals for badminton athletes during the Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2022, in the categories of men's teams, women's teams, and world championships held in May 2022.

Furthermore, Ajinomoto has become the official main sponsor of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games ("SEA Games") which will be held in Cambodia in May 2023. This sponsorship is in line with the Ajinomoto Group's commitment and dedication to co-create social and economic value through their business by reducing environmental impacts and promoting health and well-being for people. This commitment is based on "The Ajinomoto Group Creating Shared Value (ASV)" which serves as a conceptual framework for the Ajinomoto Group's global operations.
