NBTC International OTT Symposium Aims to Propel Thailand into Digital Era

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) Hosts Event with International Participants from Public and Private Sectors

In a bid to lead Thailand into a fully digital era, the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) organised the NBTC International OTT Symposium in the Digital Ecosystem, with a focus on exchanging visions and driving Thai society into a fully digital era, fostering collaboration between domestic corporations and international organisations.

On October 10th, 2023, Professor Clinic Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck, Chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), delivered the opening speech at the NBTC International OTT Symposium held at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit Hotel, spanning from October 10th to 11th, 2023. The event drew participants from numerous countries, representing both public and private sectors. Professor Boonbaichaiyapruck emphasised the NBTC's recognition of the significance of providing OTT services and promoting the Digital Ecosystem to achieve sustainable economic development in the country. He expressed confidence that the conference would serve as a significant step in leading Thai society toward a sustainable digital age.

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Notachard Chintakanond, Executive Director of the International Affairs Bureau, provided an overview of mobile internet penetration in Thailand, with expectations of further growth, projecting an internet access rate as high as 85.03 percent. He noted that the conference brought together individuals from both public and private sectors, as well as international organisations and agencies, facilitating the exchange of information and enhancing preparations for efficient development.

The conference provided a platform for participants from public, private, and related international organisations to discuss and exchange visions, solutions, and challenges related to OTT services and the promotion of the Digital Ecosystem during the transition to the digital era. Distinguished leaders and representatives from various organisations, including embassies, attended the conference, sharing their perspectives on OTT. Participating organisations included ITU, TRC, BOT, Lineman Wongnai, Line Pay, DEPA, Huawei Technology, Buzzebees, NCC, KTB, CU, SCB, True, NT, ETDA, Omdia, Mono, Avia, and NBTC. The two-day conference attracted a significant number of interested participants.
