CP Group and Mitsubishi Partner to Reduce Thai Emissions

Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) and the Japanese electrification pioneer, Mitsubishi Corporation, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a project aimed at reducing carbon emissions in Thailand's manufacturing industry and advancing energy transition goals.

Mr. Soopakij Chearavanont, Chairman of CP Group, signed the MoU in Tokyo, Japan, alongside Mr. Aiichiro Matsunaga, Executive Vice President and Group CEO of Mitsubishi Corporation's Power Solution Group on December 16, 2023.

The agreement focuses on conducting joint feasibility studies concerning the reduction of carbon emissions in Thailand's manufacturing industry, with Mr. Saito Ken, Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan, presiding over the signing ceremony.

The two groups plan to jointly conduct feasibility studies (FS) on the development of carbon-free energy sources throughout Thailand and supplying carbon-free energy to the Thai manufacturing industry.

The collaboration between Mitsubishi Corporation and CP Group will support Thailand's energy transition, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and enhancing the competitiveness of the Thai manufacturing industry. Most importantly, it will contribute to Thailand's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2025.
