During the rainy season, you may be on the hunt for a great trek and one popular destination is Khao Yai National Park in Nakhon Ratchasima.
The park has trails for day-trippers who want to be close to nature. You can choose to join a short or long one-day trip as the park does not allow visitors to stay overnight as camping is not allowed amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Choices for trails range from easy to hard. Popular routes include a 1.2km trek to Kong Kaeo Waterfall, the 2.7km Dong Tiew trail where visitors have the chance to spot white-handed gibbons, and an 8km trail to Heo Suwat waterfall.
Before starting your trip, you need to contact the Tourists Information Centre to ask for a ranger or rangers to accompany you as a guide.

National Museum to showcase Lavo-era relics
The National Museum Bangkok is due to reopen on June 16 after the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration blocked the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's move to ease pandemic control measures on Monday.
Its latest exhibition is called "Evolving Civilisation: From Lop Buri To Ayutthaya Periods" in which old items from the Lavo kingdom from the 5th–7th century are on display. The kingdom later became part of Ayutthaya. During that era, Lop Buri was the summer palace of King Narai of Ayutthaya.
The special items are displayed at the Siwamokhaphiman Hall, the main building of the national museum.
In addition, the hall also houses numerous old items found in the kingdom such as traditional musical instruments, ceramics and weapons.
The national museum is also showcasing countless national treasures in eight other exhibition buildings.
Located on Na Phrathat Road, the museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 9am and 4pm. It is closed on Monday, Tuesday and holidays.

Meanwhile, the Museum Siam on Sanam Chai Road will remain closed until June 15.
Run by the National Discovery Museum Institute, the modern museum is known as a place of discovery. Its main exhibition displays historical items of Thailand, people and culture. Each exhibition room is equipped with multimedia and interactive technology to encourage visitors to learn more.
