An ensemble of Thai and foreign musicians will be performing string quartets by Beethoven and Webern during the "String At The Library: Beethoven & Webern" concert at Neilson Hays Library, Suwarong Road, on Sunday at 6pm.

Welsh violinist Rhys Watkins, Thai violinist Omporn Kowintha, Thai violist Miti Wisuthumporn and Israeli cellist Noa Chorin will perform Razumovsky Quartet Op 59 No.1, one of Beethoven's most inventive string quartets composed as a commission for the Russian ambassador to Vienna, Count Andreas Razumovsky.

They will also perform Langsamer Satz (Slow Movement), composed by Anton Webern, one of the founding fathers of the Second Viennese School, during a hiking trip with his fiancée.

Watkins was a finalist and prize-winner in several major international competitions and has performed in all of the world's major concert halls. Currently, he is a member of the award-winning Artea String Quartet with whom he has performed at the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room and BBC Proms. Omporn performs with many chamber music ensembles and orchestras such as the Glom Piano Quartet, Bangkok String Quartet, the Artist Ensemble of Bangkok and Pro Musica Orchestra. She is also the founder of the chamber music series called "Om And Friends" and the first Suzuki Studio in Thailand called "Albyrd Violin Studio" in 2008.

Miti, meanwhile, is a principal violist of the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra who also teaches viola at Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University and Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music.

Chorin, who has a master's from the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, played with Staatskapelle Berlin (the resident orchestra of the Berlin State Opera) from 2009 to 2012.

She has played at musical festivals in Israel and Europe and currently is a guest lecturer at the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music.
