Sala Sudasiri Sobha presents a Thai-Polish fusion
Konrad Ligas. Sala Sudasiri Sobha

Sala Sudasiri Sobha is hosting an intercultural concert where accordion arrangements breathe new life into Thai and Polish musical traditions, on Sunday at 4pm.

This is a one-of-a-kind musical journey with acclaimed accordionist and composer Konrad Ligas. He's a laureate of international accordion competitions, with a proven track record of excellence and innovation.

He will be blending traditional Thai and Polish folk tunes with a touch of modernity in a programme that promises to be an innovative experience. The evening will present the world premiere of Nat Yontararak's Siam Sonata on the accordion.

Written to pay homage to HM King Rama IX on his 75th birthday, the four-movement piano masterpiece has each movement representing each region of Thailand, using famous folk tunes as motifs to guide the audience through the musical tour of the kingdom.

It's the first Thai sonata to be transcribed for the accordion by Ligas, offering a fresh perspective on this renowned composition.

The second half of the concert will unveil the magical performance of Carnaval Des Poupées by Miłosz Magin, a prominent Polish composer. Ligas, accompanied by the highly acclaimed improvising violinist, Bartosz Dworak, will present a unique suite of short illustrative pieces, creating an exceptional musical experience.

This will not be an ordinary concert but a celebration of diverse musical heritages converging in harmony through the artistry of Konrad Ligas and his talented collaborators.

Sala Sudasiri Sobha concert hall is on Lat Phrao Soi 41 yaek 7-2. Tickets cost 500, 1,000, 1,800 and 2,500 baht and can be purchased from salasudasirisobha.com/concerts.
