Art lovers are invited to explore the "quicksand of life" during "In The Middle", which is running at RCB Galleria 4 of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24, until Oct 6.
This is a new exhibition by the talented artist Chubbynida, who has captivated the art scene with her illustrations for over a decade. This time, she will get viewers to experience a state of being stuck that could ensnare anyone, regardless of their gender and age, but particularly those navigating the turbulent waters of middle age.
She draws a parallel between our dreams, desires and obsessions to geometric traps that beckon us to reach for them. Yet, beneath their seductive allure lies a labyrinth of rules and constraints, waiting to consume and suffocate us.
She weaves her personal life experiences through her signature lines, sculptures and uniquely crafted animations. She unveils this cycle through the eyes of a free-spirited alien, who falls from the sky only to become hopelessly enamoured with a strange and unfamiliar shape.
This obsession nearly consumes the alien, but in the end, it learns to love with balance, finding harmony and equality with the object of its affection.
Likewise, the artist wishes that those who find themselves trapped would be able to embrace the dreams of their youth, confront the bitter taste of disappointment and move forward with courage.
Chubbynida is known for breaking all boundaries to unleash her endless imagination, which makes her art more recognisable for its hidden lonely vibe among the simple and colourful lines. Such a creation reflects the solitary lifestyle of people in urban areas that pack with the fragility of emotion.
