Quality handicrafts will take centre stage at the "Sai Jai Thai Fair", which will kick off tomorrow and run until Nov 16 daily from 10am to 8pm at Lifestyle Hall, 2nd floor of Siam Paragon.

Held to mark the 45th anniversary of the Sai Jai Thai Foundation under the Royal Patronage, the week-long fair will bring more than 2,000 handcrafted gift items and products created by disabled war veterans and their families. This year's highlights will be hand-painted porcelain plates for home decoration portraying the images of Vimanmek Mansion and an endangered Bengal tiger; sets of 20-piece hand-painted tableware; and a wide selection of leather bags and handbags in many designs and sizes.

Also, expect to see signature products by the foundation such as the colourful and fashionable floral-printed silk scarves. They also feature six new floral designs. Meanwhile, fabric products include printed tote bags and hand towels featuring the ox motifs.

Besides the quality handicrafts, the fair will bring to one place various kinds of plants, flowers and garden accessories from the Sai Jai Thai Garden available at special prices. They include air-purifying plants such as rabbit's foot fern, fiddle fig, rubber plant, bird's nest fern, and the snake plant.

Prominent fortune-tellers from Siri Wattana Cheshire Foundation will also be there to make predictions and give advice.

The foundation was initiated in 1975 by King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and HM Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother to improve the welfare of disabled war veterans.

To help them earn a living, the Vocational Training Center was set up by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to provide training programmes on leatherwork, tailoring, woodwork and painting. Proceeds from the sale of the products will go to the foundation.
