Gucci's new line of complexion products target self-expression

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele has a very clear vision of beauty and it is that everyone should be able to wear make-up how they want to in order to reveal their true selves or transform into who they want to be.

"Make-up is something poetic and fleeting you can add to your face and change or highlight something about yourself," said the Italian fashion designer. "I find it an almost magical language, strongly linked to other details I use for the expression of the self such as jewellery and hairstyle. Of all these aspects needed to emphasise or underline an aspect of ourselves, make-up is the most immediate and oldest way which makes it more fascinating."

Individuality and diversity were considered while creating the latest complexion products, available at the Gucci Beauty counter at Paragon in Bangkok.

Sérum De Beauté Fluide Soyeux -- Silk Priming Serum contains natural ingredients, olive emollients and a spherical powder for seamless application.

The silky primer can be worn alone or as a make-up base for Fluide De Beauté Fini Naturel -- Natural Finish Fluid Foundation to ensure its optimal coverage and staying power.

Soft focus powder technology further promotes the effortless application of the liquid foundation, which features hydrating glycerin, natural emulsifiers and advanced polymer technology for a blurring effect of skin flaws.

Fluide De Beauté Fini Naturel comes in 40 shades.

The lightweight and long-wearing formula was designed to offer controlled coverage without masking natural beauty.

"Make-up can be used to construct the identity we wish to project, yet this does not mean it has to change what is already there; it should be about enhancing individuality, not concealing it," said Michele. "This idea is cultivated carefully through the tools we choose to use as much as by the ones we choose not to."

The foundation comes in 40 shades for different skin tones and types. On the Gucci Beauty website, a QR code can be scanned to access the interactive matchmaker on a mobile device, so that you can find a suitable shade for your skin.

Also, a tutorial features global make-up artist Thomas de Kluyver applying the new primer and foundation on Gucci's muse Lily Juliette Gavin and three models. The second half of the playful tutorial continues with a tongue-in-cheek look at how to use a deck of cards to build a different type of foundation.
