Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage Alliance (Seacha) is holding a digital talk on the "Authenticity And Cultural Values In Cultural Heritage Conservation, A Case Of Majapahit Houses Program In Trowulan", via Zoom on Saturday at 2pm.

Conservation aims to make use of heritage sites while retaining their authenticity and cultural value. However, both factors are critical and need to be carefully interpreted. Authenticity is not only a matter of physical materiality but also relates to identifying cultural values which sustain memories of the past

Using the Majapahit Houses Program in Majapahit heritage site in Trowulan, East Java, as a case study, Catrini Kubontubuh, president of the Indonesian Heritage Trust, is presenting how the notions of authenticity and cultural values conflict with current conservation practices and discuss how to maintain balance in heritage conservation.

Also the vice-chairman of Seacha -- a network of Southeast Asian civil society organisations engaged in cultural heritage conservation work -- and based in Thailand, Catrini has been acknowledged as a climate leader by Climate Reality Leaders Corps since September last year.

She has a background in planning and architecture and strong experience in the field of heritage through her activities in developing heritage organisations in West Sumatra, Bali, Jakarta, and several other Indonesian cities.
