NIA invites creative souls to innovate for a good cause

The National Innovation Agency is accepting entries for the "National Innovation Awards 2021", which is inviting interested persons and companies with creative ideas to come up with new innovations that benefit the national economy and society.

Initiated in 2005 to pay tribute to King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great or the "Father Of Thai Innovation", the awards are aimed to honour people who invent outstanding innovations for the country's development in various fields. The competition is divided into five categories.

-  "Economic Contribution" covers new products, new manufacturing processes, new services and new business models that are commercially valuable and beneficial to the country's economy. Entries can be submitted by small and medium enterprise and micro-enterprises.

-  "Social & Environmental Contribution" covers new products, processes, services or business models that are useful to society and the environment. This category is open to the private sector (large organisations and micro to medium enterprises), the government sector, and social and community organisation.

-  "Product & Service Design" refers to any products and services with innovative designs. Entries must be new, practical and substantially beneficial to the economy, society and environment.

-  "Media & Communication" is accepting innovations by individuals or companies who employ new technologies or new forms of communication. It is also looking for individuals, groups or companies who promote new content and communicative approaches for a better society.

-  "Innovative Organisation" is open to public and private organisations with good management in using knowledge, technology and creativity for sustainable development from strategic to structural levels.

The top winners of each category will be presented with a statue of King Rama IX with an inscription of their name and project name while the first and second runners-up will receive trophies and certificates. They will also have the opportunity to join a training programme at leading innovative organisations overseas and receive funding to further develop their innovations.
