Amid a intensely competitive environment in Thailand's streaming entertainment market, the newcomer Disney+ Hotstar recently hosted its star-studded opening ceremony titled Sawasdee Disney+ Hotstar at Bangkok's iconic landmarks Iconsiam, MahaNakhon Bangkok Skybar and Phaya Thai Palace.

The show, which aired on AIS Play, Workspoint and Channel One31, featured a variety of new-wave and experienced artists as well as Walt Disney's much-loved cartoon characters Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse who wowed Thai viewers.

"Tonight was indeed a night of many firsts, and truly worth celebrating together as Disney+ Hotstar launches in Thailand. We hope viewers enjoyed Sawasdee Disney+ Hotstar where the world-class entertainment on our service converged wonderfully with the breath-taking sights of Thailand and the enthralling performances by local music talents," said Winradit Kolasastraseni, Walt Disney's general manager of direct-to-consumer for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia (excluding Indonesia).

Setting against the stunning backdrop of the Chao Phraya River, Shahkrit Yamnarm and Kaneungnij "Rodmay" Jaksamittanon appeared on the stage at Iconsiam and presented a video featuring Hollywood and Korean A-listers such as Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Gong Yoo and the cast of Raya And The Last Dragon.

Three talents, Achiraya "Ally" Nitibhon, Putthipong "Billkin" Assaratanakul and Violette Wautier, performed at Phaya Thai Palace singing favourite songs such as Part Of Your World from The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, Reflection from Mulan and Into The Unknown from Frozen 2.

In the grand finale, Eve "Palmy" Pancharoen and Palitchoke "Peck" Ayanaputra performed at the stratospheric MahaNakhon Bangkok SkyBar in the Grand Finale, literally taking the show to new heights. They sang hit songs like Circle Of Life from The Lion King, Let It Go from Frozen, Once Upon A Dream from Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent, and A Whole New World from Aladdin on a gorgeously illuminated glass LED stage.

"I welcome Disney+ Hotstar to Thailand and hope that viewers all over Thailand enjoyed the show and performances of our homegrown artists this evening. As an official distributor of Disney+ Hotstar, we are excited to offer our customers special packages to start streaming their favourite films and shows," said Pratthana Leelapanang, chief consumer business officer at AIS.

Disney+ Hotstar offers an expansive selection of over 700 films and 14,000 episodes of global, Asian and Thai films and series.
