Nature-loving photographers are invited to enter the "Sat Mee Kha, Pa Mee Khun" photo contest to vie for royal trophies and cash prizes worth over 650,000 baht in total.

Organised by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation and the Charoen Pokphand Group, this is the 27th edition of the photo contest aimed at promoting awareness about nature and conservation.

The contest is divided into two groups -- general public and students. Participants are invited to capture the beauty of animals and forests at any wildlife sanctuary and natural park across the country, using any kind of digital camera.

Especially for the general public group, there are four subcategories under the "Wildlife Creatures" category -- birds, mammals, other creatures (such as reptiles, underwater animals and insects), and wildlife behaviour.

Also, under the "Forests" category, participants can choose to submit landscape photos, macro photos (or close-up images of small subjects such as a mushroom, fern, flower, orchid and leaf), or storytelling photos.

A special category for general public contestants is "Thai Orchid In Nature" and entries can be of macro or wide-angle photography taken in a forest and not a nursery.

Entries must be in JPG format and be between 3 and 5mb. Each contestant can submit no more than 10 photos with no watermarks, photo credits, letters and graphics.

Judging will be primarily based on how each photo portrays the contest's theme "Sat Mee Kha, Pa Me Khun", which means "animals and forests are valuable" as well as beauty and composition.

There are many prizes ranging from 15,000 to 50,000 baht including royal trophies for the general public; and 5,000 to 20,000 baht for students.
