With purple hues dancing and changing colour in the light, amethysts adorn the bezel and dial of the new Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph 38mm.

Audemars Piguet believes that the gemstones also charge the feminine model with positive energy.

Appreciated for healing properties, amethysts are a type of mineral quartz with diverse purple hues, which make it difficult to search for decorative stones to create a harmonious gemsetting.

The bezel has been set with an array of baguette-cut amethysts that perfectly match the tones of the purple dial, decorated with a Grande Tapisserie pattern.

The pattern's unprecedented colour-changing effect is akin to that of a chameleon. This is achieved thanks to a new colour treatment that consists of applying multiple layers of purple PVD to the dial. The tones range from pink to purple, passing by all the different nuances of blue, depending on the angle of the watch and the play of light.

The dial displays three chronograph counters, also in purple. Contrasting with the colour of the dial, the pink gold applied hour-markers and the Royal Oak hands are designed to match the pink gold case and bracelet featuring Audemars Piguet's signature alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces.

Likewise, the caseback has been finished with a sandblasted and satin-finished decoration and features a "Royal Oak" engraving.
