The Department of Environmental Quality Promotion (DEQP) invites interested youngsters aged seven to 18 years to enter the "Climate Change" video clip contest to vie for scholarships worth 120,000 baht in total.

Held to raise awareness and promote proper understanding on climate change to people, the contest is a platform for Thai youth to show their imagination and ability in presenting this issue in a creative and easy-to-understand fashion.

The contest is open to both individuals and teams of no more than three members in two age groups -- seven-12 years and 13-18 years. They are required to come up with a video clip or short documentary on climate change.

The content should describe its causes such as downpour, heavy floods, storms, forest fires, drought, heatwaves, shorter winter, melting ice sheets, warming ocean waters and plagues. It should also address the impact of climate change as well as how to prevent and solve the problem.

Entries should be in MP4 format with a resolution of at least 1280 by 720 and last no longer than five minutes. Each contestant and team can submit only one entry. Their work will be judged based on content accuracy, plotting, creativity and shooting and editing techniques.

The top winner of each category will receive 30,000 baht while the first and second runners up will be awarded 20,000 and 10,000 baht, respectively.

Applications should be made via formfaca.de/sm/WzluRwJCW by Aug 30 and entries should be submitted by Sept 22. Winners will be announced on Oct 14.
