The unique Lanna identity will be showcased during "Colours Of Kasalong", a flower sculpture event which will take place at Central Chiangrai from Christmas Day to Jan 5.

Held under "The Harmony & Melody" concept, this is the first time in the province to enjoy a garden of blooming flowers accompanied by beautiful piano music throughout the shopping mall, which will bring together all the key highlights of the North in one place.

A collaboration with the Mae Fah Luang Foufndation under Royal Patronage, the event will feature a colourful vibe by decorating the venue with various kinds of flowers and floral sculptures.

They include the "Prao Pan Saeng" tunnel made from woven bamboo, a giant bird's nest made from woven temperate plants to represent love and prosperity, and a giant Toh Yak sculpture.

Having stood there for over a month so far is the 14m-tall "Mok Panwa Christmas Tree" which was made from natural woven fabric by villagers and ethnic tribes on the Doi Tung mountain.

A range of community products from various ethnic tribes will be available alongside traditional handicrafts of ethnic tribes and eco-items in Doi Tung style. There will also be DIY workshops on ceramic painting, mulberry paper notebook sewing, clay pottery, weaving and terrarium making.

Also enjoy traditional folk games, stilt walking and performances by ethnic groups from Doi Tung including the ram nok ram toh dance, tai yai long drum dance as well as music performed on the Lahu reed mouth organ.

Other attractions will be an illuminating butterfly bridge and a night market. Local delicacies will be served directly from the mountains to the lowlands.
