Two award-winning chefs plan a special collaboration dinner

From Aug 25-26, Bangkok's Michelin-starred restaurant Côte by Mauro Colagreco will set the stage for a four-hand culinary collaboration between its chef de cuisine Davide Garavaglia and two Michelin-starred guest chef Syrco Bakker from the Netherlands.

The two-day event promises to offer diners a remarkable gastronomic journey through a multi-course dinner that revolves around sustainably-sourced and well-traced ingredients and deep reverence for their natural surroundings by the two star-studded cooking masters.

Born in the Netherlands, the Indonesian-Dutch Bakker is no stranger to the global gastronomic landscape. In 2010 and at just 25 years old, he started helming the kitchen at Pure C, a restaurant by legendary chef Sergio Herman in Cadzand village in the Dutch province of Zeeland.

Bakker's innovative approach to showcasing local produce and Zeeland's deep-rooted culinary traditions later earned the restaurant two Michelin stars in 2018. Many more accolades later followed, including a 2022 Chef of the Year in the Netherlands award by the prestigious Gault & Millau guide.

Earlier this year, he also took on a new mission in Bali, Indonesia. The soon-to-open Syrco BASÈ in the lush rice fields of Ubud serves as his new culinary playground where he shares nostalgic flavours of his childhood in a celebration of his Indonesian heritage as well as the archipelago's diverse indigenous ingredients.

Bakker and Côte's Italian-born Garavaglia, the winner of the 2023 Michelin Young Chef Award, will cook up a unique boundary-blurring menu that marries different tasting profiles, various ingredients and techniques.

The eight-course dinner will also present the chefs' deep knowledge of the flavours and native ingredients of their homelands across the globe.

The captivating menu thus spans the Mediterranean Sea and the bountiful and wildly diverse landscape of Indonesia to the meandering Chao Phraya River -- in which the chefs' creative vision will pay homage to their ingredient's natural characteristics.

The collaboration dinner by chef Davide Garavaglia and chef Syrco Bakker is to take place at Côte by Mauro Colagreco at Capella Bangkok on Aug 25 and 26. The price is 8,900 baht per person. Optional beverage pairings are available.

The seating is limited and reservations are highly recommended.
